Frank Warren, the promoter of British heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma, believes that a victory in the upcoming fight against Jermaine Franklin will lead his client to a title fight by the end of the year.
"We are expecting a very high-quality fight for Moses against Jermaine Franklin. You know, Franklin has never been defeated early, and this is a tough fight for Itauma. I think it will be a match after which Moses will take a step forward. I hope he gets past Franklin, and this will give him the opportunity to fight for the world champion title this year.
People say that you want to accumulate rounds. But we are already putting Itauma against fighters with which we think he will go through these rounds. The same feeling arises in the case of Franklin. As I said, he has never been stopped. He went all 12 rounds with Anthony Joshua, and that was four years ago. Back then, it was a good version of AJ.
The same applies to his fight with Dillian Whyte. Many believe that Franklin actually took that fight. So it is a complex opponent for Itauma. But if he takes him out in 1-2 rounds, I see no problem with that," Warren said.
