Middleweight Fedor Cherkashin (27-1, 17 KOs) returned to the ring in Mexico on Saturday, defeating Johnny Navarrete by knockout in the first round. The fighter from Kharkiv, now fighting under the banners of the Polish promotional organization KnockOut Promotions, declared his readiness for serious sporting achievements next year.
"Another step has been made. It was not the most serious fight, but a very important stage on the way to big goals in the new year," commented the 29-year-old athlete.
"I am glad to return to the ring after a long preparation. This fight was the culmination of this period. I will probably return to Poland for Christmas, and then go back to the USA and start working again. We are moving forward. The best is yet to come," added Cherkashin.
Cherkashin holds high rankings under the IBF, WBO, and WBC versions. This year Cherkashin fought two bouts and secured two victories.
