Ronald Crawley Sept. 14, 2025, 6:11 a.m.

The judges scored the 12-round bout 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 in favor of Crawford. This victory makes Crawford the new undisputed super middleweight champion, adding to his impressive 42-0 record.

After the fight, Alvarez acknowledged Crawford's triumph but didn't seem too fazed by the loss of his reign. He said:

"I'm here to take risks, that's what I came here for, my legacy is there and I'll stay here. I'm happy to share the ring with great fighters like him, I've achieved a lot in boxing and I've taken the risks. I feel good, I feel strong, Crawford was a great fighter, but I feel the same as always."

Alvarez, whose record now stands at 63-3-2, emphasized that this defeat doesn't define him. He maintained a positive attitude, stating:

"A defeat does not define me, I have already won."

The Mexican boxer seemed content with his performance and the overall experience. He added:

"I'm happy, it was a great night for me, my career will continue, I'm happy for everything that happened tonight. It was a great fight, everyone saw it, I prepared well and we came out winners. The strategy was worked out like that, we did what was planned."

When asked about a potential rematch, Alvarez mentioned he'd be willing to face Crawford again. However, he didn't appear entirely convinced about pursuing a second fight.

This loss marks a significant moment in Alvarez's career, but he remains upbeat about his future in boxing. Meanwhile, Crawford, known as "Bud" from Omaha, Nebraska, adds another impressive achievement to his undefeated record by becoming the undisputed champion in a new weight class.
