Terence Crawford Credits Unusual Childhood Habit for Boxing Success: "Canelo Should Be Worried"

Ronald Crawley Sept. 10, 2025, 5:10 p.m.

Crawford, known as 'Bud', comes into the fight with a perfect 41-0 record. He's moving up in weight to face Alvarez, who's one of the best boxers in recent history. Not many people think Crawford can win because of the big jump in weight classes.

But Crawford doesn't see it that way. He's used to being the smaller guy, and it's never stopped him before.

"It's just something I was born with. I just think that being undersized my entire life made me have to work harder than other people who were blessed with natural talent, size and things like that."

Crawford said this in an interview with ESPN where he talked about what drives him. He's grown used to proving everyone wrong and doesn't see Saturday going any other way.

Crawford has a warning for Canelo and his fans:

"Losing is not an option. I have to win at all costs and no matter what. Canelo's fans are going to be crying on Sunday morning when I take his belts."

Alvarez might never have faced a boxer with as much confidence as Crawford. We'll have to wait and see if that confidence leads to Canelo's defeat.
