Tyson Fury has spoken out about Oleksandr Usyk's recent victory over Daniel Dubois. The heavyweight boxer claims he's the only one who can beat Usyk.
Usyk knocked out Dubois in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time. The fight ended with Usyk's decisive victory, cementing his status at the top of the division.
Fury, known as "The Gypsy King," shared his thoughts on the match and its implications for the boxing world. He dismissed the idea of a fight between himself and Anthony Joshua, calling it "pointless."
"After watching the boxing last night and reflecting on the situation... You've got AJ boxed Daniel Dubois and got ironed out, knocked down five times, flattened. Dubois was on great run – three big knockouts in a row: Joshua, Hrgovic and Miller. And he goes in there and gets absolutely plastered, iced out, by Usyk. It just shows you. 'Oh the big fight is Fury-AJ.' AJ got ironed out by Dubois, properly, and Usyk's just ironed out Dubois. It's quite pointless."
Fury went on to claim he's the only boxer capable of defeating Usyk. He stated he's beaten Usyk twice before, though many boxing fans might disagree with this assessment.
"The only man who's been able to beat this f***er is myself and been ripped off. I'm not sure what's going on but it's GK all day, every day. Still the top dog. Still the top G. Beat him twice and I'll do it again. Three times. Wembley here we come. Get up."
Fury has challenged Usyk to a fight at Wembley next year, aiming to beat him for what he claims will be the third time. Usyk, on the other hand, has said he's open to a trilogy with Fury but wants to rest and spend time with his family first.
The Ukrainian champion has plans for one final fight before retirement. His recent victory over Dubois, who had previously scored three big knockouts against Joshua, Hrgovic, and Miller, has solidified his position at the top of the heavyweight division.
As the boxing world waits to see if Fury and Usyk will meet in the ring again, fans can expect more heated words from both camps in the coming months.
