Roberto Chavez, nephew of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez, started his professional boxing career with a win. The 18-year-old fighter beat Richy Robles in a split decision at light flyweight.

The fight took place at the Juan S. Millan Sports Center in Culiacan, Sinaloa. It was part of an event called "Por Nuestro Legado" (For Our Legacy), put together by the Chavez family. The event featured both amateur and semi-professional boxing matches.

Roberto comes from a famous boxing family. His uncle, Julio Cesar Chavez, is a well-known boxing champion. His cousin, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., has also made a name for himself in the sport. However, Roberto wants to make his own mark.

"I'm going to build my own story. I'm one more Chavez, but this Chavez is really motivated. I have a lot of heart, a lot of discipline, a lot of hard work and I'm going to be a great boxer."

Before turning pro, Roberto had an impressive amateur record with 19 wins and only 1 loss. His pro debut comes at a tough time for the family. His cousin, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., was recently arrested and deported.

Despite the family drama, Roberto seems focused on his career. He's off to a good start, winning his first professional fight. The young boxer will need to keep working hard to live up to the Chavez name in the ring.
