Anthony Cacace (24-1, 9 KO) achieved a technical knockout victory in the ninth round over Leigh Wood (28-4, 17 KO) in the main event of the evening organized by Frank Warren in Nottingham, England. Both boxers are former world champions.
In the ninth round, Wood was first counted as knocked down after a left hook, and then the fight was stopped after a series of unanswered punches in the corner. For Cacace, who previously achieved victories over Joe Cordina and Josh Warrington, this is another valuable win in the professional ring.
During the same evening, Liam Davis won by unanimous decision over Kurt Walker. The IBF Inter-Continental lightweight championship belt was at stake in the fight.
