Gervonta Davis believes he's untouchable in the boxing ring. The WBA lightweight champion has a perfect record of 30 wins with 28 knockouts, and he's not shy about letting everyone know it.
Davis recently made a bold statement about his dominance in the sport. He said, "The only person that can beat me is Gervonta Davis. The others can't touch me at all. They have all been in the ring with me and I cracked both of them. It ain't no 50-50 fight. How you going to keep me off when you don't have any power?"
The Baltimore native has good reason to be confident. He's won titles in three weight classes: super-featherweight, lightweight, and super-lightweight. His list of victories includes big names like Ryan Garcia and Leo Santa Cruz. In his most recent fight, Davis knocked out Frank Martin in the eighth round, adding another impressive win to his record.
Despite his success, there are still potential challengers on the horizon. Shakur Stevenson, the current WBC champion, and Devin Haney, the former undisputed lightweight champion, are often mentioned as possible opponents for Davis.
Speaking of Haney, Davis claims he's already gotten the better of him in sparring sessions. In an interview, Davis said, "I sparred him twice, the first time his father took him out the ring. I almost knocked him out in Floyd's gym."
Davis is set to defend his WBA lightweight title in March. His opponent will likely be Lamont Roach, the current 130lb champion. Roach has already made a bold prediction, saying he'll knock Davis out. But given Davis's track record and confidence, that might be easier said than done.
Whether you love him or hate him, there's no denying that Gervonta Davis is a force to be reckoned with in the boxing world. And if his words are anything to go by, he's not planning on slowing down anytime soon.
