WBA, WBA, WBO and WBC heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk said he didn't aim to knock out Tyson Fury in their first fight as he was worried about his opponent's health.
"I didn't want to do any damage to him. I was just boxing. I don't need to do that. I mean, I know what boxing is. I know he's going home to his kids, to his wife. It's not good when you do damage to your opponent.
Do I think the referee could have stopped the fight? I don't think about that. Would I have finished Fury if I had 20 more seconds in the ninth round? It's all just thoughts - if only," said Usyk.
Recall that in May Usyk defeated Fury by split decision of judges (115-112, 114-113, 113-114).
