Tyson Fury has made it clear he won't fight Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title. The 'Gypsy King' slammed the organization, calling them biased against him.
Fury's upcoming rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in December won't be for all the belts. Usyk gave up the IBF strap to make the rematch happen. The IBF then made Dubois their new champion after he stopped Filip Hrgovic in June.
Dubois didn't waste time defending his new title. He shocked everyone by knocking out Anthony Joshua in the fifth round of their recent fight. Dubois dropped Joshua multiple times before sealing the win at Wembley Stadium.
Despite Dubois' impressive win, Fury isn't interested in his belt. In a recent interview with iFL TV, Fury didn't hold back his thoughts on the IBF:
"I'll beat Daniel Dubois but I won't be boxing him for his belt. I'd rather box him for the British title than the IBF. I don't want anything to do with it. You couldn't give it to me as a present. I'd probably get it and put it on YouTube and burn it."
Fury's beef with the IBF goes deeper than just not wanting their belt. He feels they've treated him unfairly:
"They're a biased company that don't like 'The Gypsy King' for whatever reason. I'm not sure, but it doesn't add up. It doesn't join together."
The heavyweight champ pointed out what he sees as inconsistencies in the IBF's rankings:
"I've just lost to some people say the best pound-for-pound person in the world. I'm not in the top 15 of their ratings but I've just boxed for their belt. Does that make any sense? It doesn't does it? I'm not just making it up. It's truth, it's facts."
Fury didn't stop there. He called out the IBF to explain their ranking system and vowed never to fight for their belt again:
"If they're not biased then, if they do like me, why don't they just come out and say why I'm not in their ratings. I'm not good enough to be in the top 15? I've just lost to the best boxer in the world by a point, but I'm not in the top 15. It's very odd and I will never be giving them an opportunity again, ever, and I'd advise anybody never to fight for their belt again."
The IBF has ordered Dubois to defend his title against Joshua by next April. But Fury doesn't think that rematch will happen. With Fury refusing to fight for the IBF belt, it looks like the heavyweight division will stay fractured for now.
