Daniel Dubois returned to the UK as the IBF heavyweight champion after a knockout victory over Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium. The win marked one of the best performances of the year in boxing.
Dubois, nicknamed 'DDD', dominated the action from the start. He dropped Joshua multiple times throughout the fight before finishing it in the fifth round. The Daily Mail reported on Dubois' impressive victory over Joshua, highlighting the decisive nature of the win.
After celebrating his triumph in Brazil, Dubois is now back home and looking ahead to his next challenge. In a recent interview with Podlounge UK, he shared his thoughts on future plans:
"I'm looking forward to getting the news on the next date and the next fight. Whoever wants it in the division can get it. I'm ready."
Dubois made it clear he's aiming for the top of the heavyweight division. "I'm not going backwards, I'm going forwards, I want to fight the best and beat the best," he stated.
A rematch with Joshua could be on the cards for February. Dubois said, "There is talk of a rematch and if they want it that'll be next." Another option is facing the winner of the upcoming Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury rematch, scheduled for December 21.
Dubois' last fight before Joshua was against Usyk in August 2023. That bout ended in controversy when Usyk won by stoppage after what appeared to be a legitimate body shot knockdown was ruled a low blow. Dubois has vowed to "end" Usyk if they meet again.
The new champion's path forward is clear – he wants to prove himself against the division's elite. With his recent performance, Dubois has certainly put the heavyweight boxing world on notice.
