Daniel Dubois shocked the boxing world last month with a knockout victory over Anthony Joshua. The upset left fans and experts stunned as Dubois, the underdog champion, dominated the heavily favored Joshua.
From the opening bell, Dubois took control. He knocked Joshua down with a thunderous right hand in the first round. The onslaught continued with two more knockdowns in the following rounds. In the fifth, Dubois closed the show with a final right hand that ended the fight.
Derek Chisora, analyzing the bout, believes Joshua struggled mentally. He said:
"There's no two ways about it, he [Joshua] froze."
Chisora noted that Joshua seemed reluctant to engage and deviated from his usual pre-fight routine. He observed that Joshua's hesitation started even before entering the ring.
The BBC reported on Dubois knocking Joshua down three times before the final knockout, highlighting the dominance of the 27-year-old IBF champion's performance.
Despite the decisive outcome, Chisora expects a different result in a rematch. He stated:
"The best thing is the rematch, I believe Joshua wins in the rematch. He has to change his ways. He wins in the rematch. He'll go back and look at it and say this is what I did wrong, this is what I'm gonna fix and he'll fix it. That is it. It's just one of those things."
While not officially announced, a rematch seems likely for both boxers' next outings. All involved parties, including influential figure Turki Alalshikh, have expressed interest in making it happen.
The boxing world now waits to see if Joshua can bounce back from this setback or if Dubois will cement his status as the new force in the heavyweight division.
