Jaron 'Boots' Ennis Reveals Surprising Career Priority: "It's Bigger Than Any Fight"

Jaron 'Boots' Ennis wants to make his mark in the welterweight division. The IBF World Champion has set his sights on collecting all the belts at 147 lbs to become the undisputed champion.

Ennis got a boost recently when Terence Crawford moved up to 154 lbs, leaving the IBF title behind. The Philadelphia native snatched it up and now has his eyes on the rest of the division's gold.

In a chat with YSM Sports Media, Ennis made his intentions clear:

"My main goal right now is to become undisputed at 147, collect these belts."

The switch-hitting fighter from Philly has an impressive record of 32 fights with 29 knockouts. He's now teamed up with promoter Eddie Hearn, who claims he's already reached out to the other champions in the division.

Brian Norman Jr holds the WBO title, Mario Barrios has the WBC belt, and Eimantas Stanionis is the WBA Regular Champion. These are the fighters Ennis will have to beat to achieve his goal.

But before he can chase those fights, Ennis has to take care of some unfinished business. He's got a mandatory defense coming up against Karen Chukhadzhian. Ennis already beat Chukhadzhian in January 2023 for the Interim belt, so he'll be looking to repeat that performance.

While Ennis focuses on cleaning up at welterweight, Crawford has his sights set higher. Word is he's only interested in fighting Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez now that he's moved up to 154 lbs.

In another interesting twist, WBC champ Mario Barrios might have a fight with Manny Pacquiao in the works. At 45 years old, Pacquiao's return to the ring would certainly shake things up in the division.

Ennis has already made a name for himself in boxing, but becoming undisputed champion would take his career to a whole new level. With his new promotional deal and clear goals, 'Boots' is ready to leave his mark on the welterweight division.
