WBA, WBO and WBC heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk hopes that boxing will not be excluded from the Olympic Games program.
"It's impossible because boxing is one of the first sports to appear in the Olympics. There were fist fights, then it evolved into boxing. I understand what's happening because the IBA system is rotten, doing what it wants to do. On their own kind of plan they move. They don't have an international plan for the whole world of boxing development. We, for example, my team and I can't let this incredible sport disappear from the Olympics. I believe that we really have a boxing nation, we have a great history of boxing. We can't just lose medals.
We have a decline in Olympic boxing right now because we have a war in our country as well. But we still have to move. As long as we are breathing, we must move and do something," Usyk said in an interview with Volia Space Ukraine.
