Usyk commented on the defeat of Lovchinsky
Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, the unified heavyweight champion of the world, reacted to the defeat of compatriot Dmitry Lovchinsky in 1/8 of the Olympic Games in Paris.
Yesterday, July 28, Lovchinsky, competing in the over 92 kg category, lost by knockout to Australia's Teremoane Junior. Before that, he had been knocked down twice.
"I'm not surprised, this is boxing. We should have prepared for this guy. He represented our country very well, the fact that he lost - it happens, it's sport. We have to do the work on the mistakes and move on. He's a young guy. He just needs to be supported.
I saw two fights - boxing is developing very well and moving forward. Many guys boxing here, in a year or two we will hear them in the pros. Representative of Uzbekistan Jalalov, for example he is Olympic champion, world champion, he represents his country. The level of boxing is good, but we need to change the approach to the organization at the world level," said Usyk.
