Holder of WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight belts Alexander Usik told how he managed to agree on a fight with the WBC champion Tyson Fury.
“I know that Mr. Turki Al ash-Sheikh made a very big contribution. When our managers met, we sat in the room and talked for a couple of hours. Fury called his manager and invited me and the children to visit him.
Do you know why we agreed? I think it was because fewer people were involved in it. We eliminated unnecessary elements from our negotiations, and this led to us signing the contract. We once talked with Alex Krasyuk and said that if we meet Tyson face-to-face and communicate, we can sign a contract faster than the promoters,” Usyk said in an interview with the TNT Sport Boxing YouTube channel.
It was previously reported that the fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion could take place in February.
