After 37 years of boxing broadcasts, the management of the American TV channel Showtime decided to take them on pause. By the end of the year, the channel will fulfill all its obligations, but after that boxing will disappear from its airwaves.

“The company's decision is not a reflection of the work we have done over recent years or our long and proud history. Unfortunately, in a rapidly evolving media market, the company has had to make difficult choices in allocating resources, re-prioritizing and rebuilding its content offering. While today's news is certainly difficult and disappointing, it is completely beyond our control,” said Stephen Espinoza, President of Showtime Sports.

In recent years, Showtime has aired boxing nights produced by Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions, which will now seek another platform for its events. In this context, DAZN and Amazon Prime are most often mentioned.
