Former world champion in two weight categories Billy Joe Saunders In an interview, WilliamHill stated that he was going to return to the ring and fight in December. His plan is to fight his first fight at light heavyweight, and next year return to super middleweight, where he competed before. The Briton fought his last fight in May 2021, when he lost to Saul Alvarez ahead of schedule due to an eye injury.

“I need to get back into boxing because I can’t keep thinking about what I could achieve and what I can’t. “I know it’s been two and a half years, but I’ve been boxing in my head since I was five years old, so I needed that break,” Saunders said on the podcast with Simon Jordan.

“I’m going to fight in December. I don't have an opponent yet, but I'm going to go back to Eddie Hearn and find out something. I'll probably fight at super middleweight. I'm not going to promise that I'm going to fight a superstar, but I'm going to fight at super middleweight. I could say right now that in 11 or 12 weeks I will be able to get down to 76kg, but at what cost? I don’t want to go into the ring and stink up everything around me because I exhausted myself with cutting or didn’t meet my weight. I want to come down slowly, warm up, get the ball rolling, pick my opponent, and then look for the biggest fights Eddie can offer me. I want to do three or four fights,” Saunders said.
