Conor Benn (22-0, 14 KOs) returned to the professional ring last night with a unanimous decision victory over Rodolfo Orozco (32-4-2, 24 KOs). The fight wasn't easy for the Brit, but he seemed happy with his performance.
“I didn’t want to take the easy way out. I needed rounds after an eighteen month layoff, Orozco is a true Mexican, the first one I fought, and we knew he had toughness. “I respect him, he’s never been stopped before, he’s a tough guy and I hope his career continues to gain momentum,” said the son of the legend.
“The junior middleweight boxers (Benn made his debut in the 154-pound limit - editor’s note) are stronger, but they can also take punches better. “I don’t think I was rusty, I just needed a workout after going through hell,” Benn added.
“The UK is my home and I will only feel good when I return there, and that will happen sooner or later,” concluded “The Destroyer,” who is trying to regain his license to perform in the UK.
