Negotiations are underway to conclude a contract for a fight between Edgar Berlanga (21-0, 16 KOs) and ex-world welterweight champion Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs). The fight may take place in November in the USA.
Eddie Hearn took the initiative to organize such a fight. Both boxers have already negotiated preliminary requests for this and are now discussing financial terms.
In his last appearance in the professional ring, Mungiya won on points against Sergey Derevyanchenko. Berlanga went the full distance with Jason Quigley in June. Munguia vs. Berlanga would also give Hearn the opportunity to fight Oscar de la Hoya, as the promoters, judging by their statements in public, do not like each other very much.
