Billy Joe Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs) was already world middleweight and super middleweight champion. The Briton did not rule out that in the future he would be able to compete for the light heavyweight title.
After the loss to Canelo and an eye injury, Saunders took a long break. Some even doubted whether he would return to boxing at all. After more than two years of inactivity, the Briton is training and waiting for a specific date for the next fight.
“Every day I lose calories and weight. I have already become world champion twice and will return to become world champion for the third time. I do not rule out light heavyweight fights,” said Saunders, who previously challenged Edgar Berlanga.
