Matchroom Boxing officially announced today that the two-time World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) will fight the former interim WBC champion Dillian Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London on August 12.
This will be their rematch years later - in the first fight in 2015, Joshua won by technical knockout in the seventh round. If AJ wins in August, he will face Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia in December.
In recent weeks, both sides have been negotiating a contract for a fight for a long time. But since then, White has significantly reduced his financial requirements and agreed that he would not participate in the advertising campaign for the fight, and Joshua abandoned the clause obliging White to fight a third fight if he wins.
