WBO world heavyweight champion Chris Billam-Smith (18-1, 12 KOs) announced that he would return to the ring in the fall. In May, the 32-year-old boxer won Lawrence Okoli, taking away the belt of the World Boxing Organization from him.
The former champion had a rematch clause in his contract for the first fight and it seemed that there would be a second meeting of these boxers in the fall, but Billam-Smith suggests that his opponent's plans could change.
“I know people loved our first fight, but it was a very physical fight. Okoli is a very uncomfortable and difficult opponent. If there is a revenge, we will do it again. But it seems to me that now there are other opportunities, ”said Billam-Smith.
“Richard Riakpo is my only offender. In the next fight, he will meet the IBF world champion, and I hope he will win. I would like our revenge to be a unification fight. Last time he managed to defeat me, but then I was not half what I am now, ”added Billam-Smith.
Richard Riakpo should fight for the IBF world title with Jai Opetaya in the fall. The boxing teams have until July 14 to agree on the fight.
