Fury's promoter clarified what he said about Joshua's 'contract'

George Warren, in an interview published on the Queensberry Promotions channel, mentioned the statement Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs), who said on social media on Friday that Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) received from his contract for a fight scheduled for September.

“Tyson is a boxer, not a lawyer, maybe he didn’t quite understand how big fights are played. Firstly, it was an official offer, and we just made it. They have to accept it now, which we hope, and only then can they focus on contracts,” the Gypsy King promoter explained. “I think what he meant was that the contract earlier [last year] was basically accepted by both parties, and Eddie Heran was saying at the time that there were only minor things that needed to be worked out. We can sit down at the negotiating table right now and get this over with in a week."

“We want to live up to Fury's expectations, and he wants the biggest fights. Usyk is busy because he's fighting Dubois, Fury wants to box in the summer, and Joshua is the biggest fight possible. Here are the instructions we received from him and we'll see what happens. We're not going to be very hopeful about this challenge because they've already told us they're negotiating with the Saudis, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and we'll see what happens. If nothing, then move on,” added George Warren.
