Mayer moves to lightweight

Michaela Mayer (17-1, 5 KOs) announced her move to the lightweight category. In the spring, the former world featherweight champion is set to make her debut in the new division, crossing gloves with Cristina Linardatu (14-2, 6 KOs).

The representative of Greece in the professional ring has so far lost only to Kathy Taylor and Delfina Persun. Linardatu has a victory over Alicia Baumgardner, who beat Mayer on points in the fall.

The Top Rank group that promotes the American will most likely try to put Mayer in the position of an official contender for one of Kathy Taylor's championship belts.
