Coach Joe Goossen thinks the real tank is in his corner. A well-known coach began to work with Ryan Garcia at the beginning of this year, and today the rising boxing star has an appointment with Gervonta Davis in 2023, the date and place of which have not yet been determined.

Davis has adopted the nickname "The Tank" to indicate the devastating knockout power he wields - 25 of his 27 career victories came by stoppage, accounting for about 92% of knockouts. However, according to Goossen, it is Garcia (23-0, 19, KO) who has the more powerful punch.

“When Garcia trains, people go into hypnosis. They can't believe what they see,” Goossen told FightHype.com. - I know that Tank is very good in attack, and this is true when everything goes according to his plan, but this does not mean that Tank was like this throughout his entire career. When you're up against first-class opponents... No one is immune to missed shots."

“The thing is, I think Ryan has a much stronger punch than Davis. And I have every reason to. With that said, neither of the two wants to miss the best shot of the other," added Goossen, who has already gone through two training camps with Garcia, as a result of which his ward defeated Emmanuel Tago by unanimous decision in April and knocked out Javier Fortuna in July.

“No one wants to get hit by one of these guys, but I think Ryan is also the bigger guy. I think Tank is now at his weight of 135 pounds. Ryan turned 24 in August. He is still growing. Garcia looks like a full-fledged welterweight in the ring. I believe that Ryan has the same physique as Oscar De La Hoya in the 1990s,” said Goossen.

“Garcia will not only be heavier than Davis, but he will also have more range. He has a clear height advantage and is a smart guy. He's got fast hands, he's got incredible strength, he'll be a 135-pound welterweight when they fight."

“I believe in Ryan Garcia, no matter how good Gervonta “Tank” Davis is. I'm so confident in Ryan's ability to win this fight that I wish it had happened a little earlier, to be honest," Goossen said.

Before Davis and Garcia face off, Gervonta will return to the ring on January 7 against Hector Luis Garcia.
