Team David Avanesyan (29-4-1, 17 KOs) filed a protest over Saturday's fight with Terence Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs). The documents were submitted to the Nebraska State Sports Commission (the fight took place in Omaha) and relate to the American's gloves, which literally began to fall apart at the seams during the fight.
Before the sixth round, the referee noticed that both of Crawford's gloves were damaged by that time. The problem was supposed to be solved in the next break between rounds, but after a few tens of seconds, Avanesyan was knocked out.
A boxer from the United States performed in gloves manufactured by Everlast, who had previously taken all the blame, explaining that the gloves were made of poor quality material. Avanesyan demands an explanation from those who led the fight and approved the gloves. In this fight, Crawford defended his WBO welterweight title.
