WBA at its congress decided to oblige Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) to make a mandatory defense of his title against Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs). The Ukrainian is a full-fledged WBA world heavyweight champion, and the Briton owns the regular version of this belt.

Currently, the team of Usyk, who, in addition to the WBA title, also owns the IBF and WBO championship belts, is negotiating a unification fight with Tyson Fury. This fight is expected to take place in the second half of February in Saudi Arabia.

Dubois may have to wait his turn to fight for a full world title, but the WBA's decision makes him one of the fighters waiting for the winner of the Usyk-Fury showdown. Philip Hrgoives and Joe Joyce are also in line with the same rights.
