Hughie Fury (26-3, 15 KOs) refused the fight for the second time against Michael Hunter (20-1-2, 14 KOs), referring to the state of health. The fight was scheduled to take place on October 29, and his status as a mandatory contender for the "regular" WBA heavyweight belt was at stake. This was already the second scheduled date for their meeting, the first was July 2, but seventeen days before the fight, the Briton refused to fight for health reasons.

“Huey struggled with the disease until he finally broke down. We are waiting for a new fight date. Once again, we apologize to everyone, but health is the main thing in boxing, ”said Peter Fury, the father and trainer of the boxer.

Now, a little more than three weeks before the scheduled date, Hughie again fell short of his fight obligations. By his own admission, everything is connected with complications from COVID-19.

“I feel weak, I have no strength at all. I went through various types of examinations, and I was diagnosed with "long-term symptoms of the disease after covid". It's a shame, but there's nothing I can do about it. My body does not allow me to exercise normally. I'm going to take a break until the end of this year, and I won't train at all for a while, ”said Hughie Fury.
