It is quite possible that Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) will remain in super lightweight for the time being. Todd DuBoeuf of the promotional organization Top Rank said that negotiations are underway for a contract for the Scot to fight with Jose Cepedoy (35-2, 27 KOs).
Taylor was recently stripped of his WBA championship belt after refusing to fight official challenger Alberto Puello. Cepeda, who fought twice for the world title in the past, is the mandatory challenger for Taylor, but this time by the WBC.
The Scot, in addition to the title of the World Boxing Council, still has IBF and WBO belts. Taylor after the February fight with Jack Catterall stated that he was going to move to welterweight.
