Three of the four major sanctioning organizations in boxing, the WBC, WBO and IBF, have issued the following statement related to Russia's military intervention in Ukraine:

“The WBC, WBO and IBF are joining the sports world in an urgent call for a ceasefire and an end to the war in Ukraine following the Russian invasion. From today, our organizations will not sanction championship fights involving boxers from Russia and Belarus. We will constantly monitor what is happening, we hope that this situation will be resolved soon in order to restore normal life and sports activities.

“The boxing world is uniting for peace, the sports world is uniting for peace and rejecting any form of war. Innocent people are dying, soldiers from Ukraine and Russia are dying. May God help bring peace to our world,” the WBC, WBO and IBF said in a joint statement.
