Unified WBA, WBO and IBF lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez believes that Josh Taylor, the undisputed super lightweight champion, should face him in an catchweight contest in which they will both put their belts on the line, which would mean the winner would be the best in two weight classes at once.

"We can fight for both titles, both undisputedĀ titles," Lopez recently told IFL TV. "And we can do it at the interim weight of 138 or even 139 pounds. I'm ready to go up a little bit, so ... He should go down one pound. Or 137 and a half. It's either that or that. If Leo Santa Cruz and Gervonta Davis could do it when they had WBA belts at 130 and 135 pounds, why can't we fight for undisputedĀ titles at catchweight and the winner will be the undisputedĀ champion in both weight classes?"

"Come on. It's boxing. If we have bloggers fighting and everything else, why the hell can't we do it? We're already disrespected in our sport. Why not try to do something like that. Is that wrong?" Lopez said.
