Rudy Gonzalez, a childhood friend and former bodyguard of legendary Hector "Macho" Camacho, spoke about how they made an impromptu crossing between the US and Mexico with a kilo of drugs in the trunk of a car and a collision with a border patrol. Gonzalez's story is part of a new Showtime documentary "Macho: The Story of Hector Camacho", which will be released today on December 4th.
“Macho: The Story of Hector Camacho” is a look at the rise, fall and untimely death of one of the most prominent representatives of the world of boxing. The dynamic speed, footwork and strength of Hector Camacho made him a fighter to be reckoned with in the ring. Its brightness and staginess opened a new era in boxing at that time. The documentary follows his epic battles in the ring, his struggles with addiction outside of it, and the mystery of the double murder that claimed his life. This is a portrait of a fighter who transcended his sport but was ultimately unable to defeat his own demons.
