Valdes beats Sanchez on points

Oscar Valdez (26-0, 20 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision win over Jason Sanchez (14-1, 7 KOs) and defended his featherweight world title. This fight was the main event of the boxing evening in Reno, Nevada.

After twelve rounds the judges scored it 117-110 twice and 118-109 in favor of the Mexican. Sanchez went on the floor after a left hook in the fifth round, but was able to hold out until the final bell.

For Valdés it was the sixth successful defense of WBO title. 24-year-old Sanchez suffered the first defeat in his career.
