On ESPN evening in New York Terence Crawford (35-0, 26 KO) defeated Amir Khan (33-5, 20 KO) by technical knockout in the sixth round. The favored American fought well in the first, sending Khan to the floor. The Briton, however, managed to survive to the bell. The next rounds were quite even, but in the eyes of the judges, Crawford did enough to save them to his account.
The stoppage came in the sixth, when Crawford punched Khan clearly below the belt. The islander got the time from the referee to recover, but he finally decided he was not able to continue. So Crawford won by TKO. At the time of the stoppage, the American led to points 49-45, 50-44, 49-45.
