Usik: Takam is a worthy rival

Undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksander Usyk commented on his next fight, which should take place at the heavyweights in the United States, and his possible opponent the former title contender Carlos Takam.

Usyk began preparing in mid-February and the total duration of his training camp will be more than three months, which is more than usual. Oleksander will conduct all the training in Ukraine, and will fly to the place of the fight in the USA with his team a week before the fight - on May 17 or 25.

“The guy is very decent. In almost all versions, he is in the top. He moves a lot, he’s not static. In a fight with Joshua, he moved very well. With such opponents you get very good fights. At the moment we are reviewing his fights, what he does, and working out our own. But I absolutely do not think about the fight. It’s the same way as in all my previous camps. For me my task is to perform well in my training camp, and to fulfill all the task that the team sets for me,” said Usyk.

“I have been working for almost two months now. Initially, we did weightlifting, and we continue to do it. Then we went a little bit of boxing, but, nevertheless, elements of weightlifting are present in our training camp. Here is the sand added. There are new things we do. I will not talk about them yet. It is necessary to process the weight in the right muscles, that will help me to work. We do not need much, because the efficiency will drop, perhaps the speed will slow down. We do not need this. We need the same mobility, the same efficiency. So I think that 216 pounds will be enough for the beginning,” Usyk added.
