The WBA super featherweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis (21-0, 20 KOs) from Baltimore stopped the former Mexican champion Ugo Ruiz (39-5, 33 KOs) with an explosive knockout in the first round, successfully defending his title in the main event of the evening at the arena Dignity Health in Carson, California. Davis cornered Ruiz in the first round, and struck the right hook, which sent Ruiz to the canvas. When Ruiz got up, he was visibly hurt, and clearly could not continue the fight. Referee Jack Reiss stopped the fight at 2:59.
