Women's World Boxing Championship is under threat due to polluted air in New Delhi

Participants of the women's world boxing championship in New Delhi complain about the difficulty of training because of the polluted air in the capital of India. On November 13 the level of toxic particles in the air exceeds the safe limit by eight times. City authorities have restricted traffic in the city and suspended construction activity, but the situation remains unchanged.

To protect from smog athletes wear surgical masks and wrap wet scarves and T-shirts on the lower part of the face. Some complain that their eyes start to irritate due to environmental problems. Increased pollution in the city is associated with transport and industrial emissions and the seasonal burning of residues after harvest. New Delhi is considered one of the most polluted cities on the planet.
