Shumenov stops Altunkaya

Beibut Shumenov (18-2, 12 KOs) scored a victory over Hezni Altunkaya (30-2, 17 KOs) after the Turkish boxer's team refused to continue the fight after the ninth round in the main event of the boxing evening in Astana, Kazakhstan.

In the course of the battle, Altunkaya was twice on the floor after body punches, in the first and the ninth rounds. After the meeting Shumenov, the only world champion in two different weight categories from Kazakhstan, tried on the vacant WBA cruiserweight title.

Shumenov acted methodically and calm, perhaps even too much against an opponent of this level, but in the end everything ended well for Beibut.
