Berinchyk: I always took a prize of audience sympathy starting from amateurs

Olympic silver medalist Denys Berinchyk (7-0-0, 4 KOs) at the Olympic base in Koncha Zaspa near Kyiv, Ukraine, is completing the third week of preparation for his next bout. This will be the first title fight in a professional career for a native of Krasnodon. According to some reports, Berinchyk will meet former Viktor Postol's opponent Ignacio Mendoza (42-12-3, 26 KOs) of Spain.

In his last interview Denis talked about the training with his stablemate Oleg Malinovsky (21-0-0, 5 KOs), his ring walk outs, first title fight, shows and his friends.

"Now we have general physical training, we are gaining power, working on all the qualities: there are elements of wrestling, there is work with medicine balls, with weights, team work. We work together with Oleg Malinovsky, we have been practicing this about three years. We are working this way. Everything goes to the plan that there will be a battle on December 16 and everything will be fine in it.

“Amateur boxing is a school, and professional boxing is already a professional education and you have to work on it day after day, month after month. We are slowly gaining power, the work is paying off. This is seen by many, by spectators and experts of boxing.

“I wanted to go through all the 8 rounds in my last battle, but there was, you say, a towel thrown from the team of my opponent. It would be desirable, of course, to hold a 10-round fight, and then fight for the title, but it happened that I will have a title fight immediately and it will be a ten-rounder.

“Even in amateurs I had a robe. I always took the prize of fans sympathy. This cannot be teached, it takes a lot of effort, it's very difficult to make people exited. Everything is done according to the plan, everything needs to be rehearsed. These are difficulties, but we cope with them.

“In the future, if there are ring walk outs, they will be quite modest, but also shocking. I will do them myself, and not in the company with someone else. The development of ring walks allows me to develop as a person," Berinchyk says.
