Haye commented on criticism of boxing shows in Saudi Arabia

Former world champion in two weight categories David Hay commented on the dissatisfaction of British fans with the fact that all top boxing matches now take place mainly in Saudi Arabia.

“I understand the disappointment of many British boxing fans that they cannot go to fights in Saudi Arabia. But the harsh reality is that either these fights take place in Saudi Arabia or they don’t take place at all. Boxing, like the world, is constantly changing.

In the past, fans have resisted PPV events, having become accustomed to watching fights on free-to-air television. But that has changed too. Nowadays, traditional sources of income are not enough for top-level fighters; economic realities have changed. So I urge fans to accept that a new era has begun in boxing. The best fight the best, these are the kind of fights we dreamed of,” Haye wrote in X.
