Former world bantamweight champion Rolando Romero believes Mexican star Saul Alvarez has a duty to share the ring with David Benavides after defeating his compatriot Jaime Munguia.

"It was a great fight. Mexico won. Despite everything, it was a great fight. The knockdown played an important role. Overall it was a great card.

There's only one fight next for Canelo Alvarez and that's the fight against David Benavides. Everyone wants to see it, so we need to organize it," Romero said in an interview with YouTube channel Fight Hub TV.

Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs) shared his emotions after losing to absolute world champion in the second middleweight division to compatriot Saul Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs).

"I was in great shape and got the victory in the first rounds. This defeat was painful for me as it was the first of my career. I'm sure I could have defeated any other opponent tonight, but the guy I met can cause a lot of trouble," said the Mexican after the fight.

On the night of May 5, Las Vegas hosted an evening of boxing, which was headlined by a fight between absolute world champion in the super middleweight division Saul Alvarez and Jaime Munguia.

Alvarez came into this fight as the favorite and was able to prove his status. Canelo defeated Munguia, who had never lost before, by unanimous decision of the judges. The scores were 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112 in favor of the champion.
