Former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder expressed confidence that the former WBO belt holder Joseph Parker always avoided fighting with him.

“Joseph Parker ran from me because he saw what I did to Gerald Washington. He saw my performance when I knocked out Washington and ran away. Many years ago, I could have unified the heavyweight titles on multiple occasions if I had the opportunity. But, unfortunately, no one gave me the same opportunity as I did to other fighters when I agreed to fight with them. It's sad because for me it's both a blessing and a curse.
Here we are here again. A lot of great things are happening, a lot of doors are opening, a lot of opportunities are arising. I had been waiting for a fight with Parker for a long time, but he ran away. I don’t know how he got the courage now, but I’m glad he did because I will punish him. I'm looking forward to the fight with him. I can't wait for it to happen. The fight won’t be long,” Wilder said.
