Paulie Malignaggi Reveals Canelo's Biggest Threat: "He'd Rather Retire"

Paulie Malignaggi thinks David Benavidez will crush Canelo Alvarez if they ever fight. But he doesn't think it'll happen.

The former two-weight world champion turned boxing analyst shared his thoughts on the long-discussed matchup between Canelo and Benavidez. Malignaggi didn't hold back.

"Benavidez runs Canelo over like a locomotive running over the car that got stuck in front of the train tracks. That's if that fight happens. It does not."

Malignaggi said this in a recent video, doubling down on his belief that Canelo is avoiding the most dangerous opponents.

Not everyone agrees with Malignaggi's take. Former world champion Chris Algieri jumped in to defend Canelo.

"Nobody runs over Canelo tops. Nobody is going to run over him. You've got to give this guy credit," Algieri said.

Malignaggi wasn't having it. He fired back:

"He won't fight the guys that run you over. He gets credit, but there the credit gets stopped."

Canelo just beat Edgar Berlanga in September and has already set his sights on his next opponent. While fans and pundits continue to call for a Benavidez fight, it seems Canelo has other plans for now.

The debate about Canelo's career choices and potential matchups rages on. Malignaggi's comments will surely add fuel to the fire as boxing fans wonder if we'll ever see Canelo step in the ring with Benavidez.
