A former contender for the world middleweight title Curtis Stevens (30-7, 22 KOs) lost by knockout in the third round to Whaley Omotoso (28-4, 22 KOs) at the boxing evening in Brooklyn, NY. The time was 1:28. For 34-year-old American it was a debut in the junior middleweight division. Stevens returned to the ring after more than a year's layoff and fell on the floor three times before the bout was stopped. For Omotoso it was one of the most valuable victory in his professional career.

Mass brawl with flying chairs and shots ended the evening of boxing in the Dominican Republic in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros. The fight started when Curtis Stevens' fight against Carlos Jairo Cruz was stopped in the fourth round. Referee Steve Smoger decided that Cruz was not able to continue the fight, which caused discontent among the spectators at the ring, who soon attacked with plastic chairs the team of Stevens and the referee himself.

A clash of bib-punching middleweight contenders that figured to be an all-out war, turned out to be all that and more. Former IBF world champion David Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) scored a spectacular third round KO over Curtis “The Cerebral Assassin” Stevens (29-6, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY. Both traded bombs the entire way and both had their moments. Lemieux ended matters with a crushing left hook in round three that put Stevens on the deck out cold. Time was 1:59.
