Top Trainer Leaks Gervonta Davis' Next Fight Secret: "It's A Done Deal"

Gervonta Davis is getting ready to step back into the ring. His team has booked the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for November 2. Coach Ricky Funez says he knows who Davis will fight next, ...

Davis, known as 'Tank', has had a busy year. He beat Ryan Garcia in 2023, then got into some legal trouble that led to house arrest and prison time. After that, he was made the full WBA Lightweight Champion when Devin Haney moved up in weight. Davis then defended his title with a big win over Frank Martin.

There was talk about Davis fighting Vasiliy Lomachenko, but that didn't work out. Lomachenko wasn't keen on fighting this year. A match with Shakur Stevenson didn't happen either.

So who's next for the 29-year-old from Baltimore? Funez gave a hint in an interview with Pro Boxing Fans:

"I know who he is [fighting next]. It's gonna be a secret, it's gonna be out. It's not public yet but it'll be in November and I think it's gonna be in Las Vegas. It's gonna be against one of Robert Garcia's fighters."

One possible opponent is Jose 'El Rayo' Valenzuela. He just beat Isaac Cruz for the WBA Super-Lightweight World Title. Davis has fought Cruz before, winning by unanimous decision in 2021. It was only the second time Davis had gone the distance in his career.

If it is Valenzuela, the fight might be at 140 pounds. Davis has fought at that weight before, beating Mario Barrios.

But there's a problem. Robert Garcia says Valenzuela won't fight until next year. In an interview, Garcia said:

"No. November 2 is too soon. Rayo is not going to fight until next year. He was in camp for almost 5 months, had a hard camp, he was getting ready for June 15 and was already in camp and then they changed it to August 3 and he had a long camp, so yeah Nov 2 is too soon. Next year."

So who else could it be? Raymond Muratalla is a lightweight with a 21-0 record, but he's already set to fight on November 2 on a different card. Brandun Lee, who's 29-0 in the super-lightweight division, is another of Garcia's fighters.

Whoever Davis fights, fans will be eager to see 'Tank' back in action. His power and skill have made him one of boxing's biggest stars. The November 2 date in Las Vegas promises to be an exciting night for fight fans.
