WBO heavyweight champion Lawrence Okoli (19-0, 14 KOs) won by unanimous decision over the previously undefeated mandatory challenger David Light (20-1, 12 KOs) in the main match of the evening at the AO Arena in Manchester. England. The taller Okoli kept Light at a distance and controlled the first rounds. Basically, the meeting was held in a viscous struggle with an abundance of clinches and a small number of clean hits. Judging scores: 116-112, 119-108 and 117-110.

Lawrence Okolie (18-0, 14 KOs) and David Light (20-0, 12 KOs) successfully met the first heavyweight limit at the official weigh-in ceremony before the fight for the WBO world title. Okolie's weight was 90.7 kg, Light - 89.9 kg. The New Zealander will enter this fight as an official contender for the title. The fight will be the main event of the Boxxer evening in Manchester.

It remains to be seen whether the American coach will remain after Saturday's "Sauce" fight in Morecambe to continue preparing "Gypsy King" for the fight with Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs).
