Robert Whittaker, former UFC middleweight champion, commented on Islam Makhachev's victory over Dustin Puryear.
"It was one of the most exciting title fights I've ever seen. Before the fight I thought Makhachev would take the fight to the ground and control. But we didn't see that. Porier turned on the dog mode. I gave every round to Makhachev, I think he was winning in the standup, even though he was missing punches. Obviously he won in grappling, but Dustin did a good job," Whittaker said on the MMArcade Podcast.
Recall, Makhachev beat Puryear by choke hold in the fifth round.
