"I thank everyone for their support, for believing in us. It is very important to prove every day that Ukrainians are strong and free people. Together - we are a force. The whole world sees this. Glory to the Ukrainian people. Glory to all who defend," wrote Usyk in Instagram.
On May 18 in the main event of the evening of boxing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Usyk defeated Fury by a split decision of judges. Thus, the Ukrainian added the WBC championship belt to the WBA, WBO, IBF titles, becoming the first absolute heavyweight champion since 1999.
