Garcia ignores allegations of doping

Ryan Garcia

Ryan Garcia confident in his victory in the upcoming duel with Gervonta "Tank" Davis, which is tentatively scheduled for April in Las Vegas. Last weekend, Garcia watched with interest Davis's eight round win ...

“At the moment, as far as I know, it is,” Garcia said in an interview with The MMA Hour. — Everything is written in the contract. I think they are just working on the undercard now, but otherwise we both agreed to the fight. I'm ready. I really wanted this fight, and I will do my best to make it happen."

Garcia was also scheduled to fight veteran Mercito Gesta this month, but it was canceled when Garcia decided to skip the interim bout and go straight to face Davis.

“I thought about all these things that I had to do, and I just decided that I would not do it,” said Garcia. — I didn't want to let something unexpected happen to me. I decided to immediately prepare for the Tank. If I really believe that I will beat him, I will always believe that I will beat him.”

Garcia worried that Davis' last fight could derail their upcoming clash: "I thought, 'This is kind of risky.' It's not that he could lose - he could hurt his hand. Anything can happen even while preparing for a fight. It looked too risky for me, but he wanted to mind his own business, he had a great performance, and hopefully nothing happens until April.”

A few weeks ago, Davis made a statement that he believed Garcia was potentially doping. Garcia believes the accusations were nothing more than an attempt to piss him off.

“I think they were trying to tell me: ‘Come on, I won’t go through all this,’ especially with the weight, the change of dates. They tried to prolong my inactivity,” Garcia said. “All this nonsense, it's just to say that I'm doped. I see all their tricks. But they don't know who they contacted. My mind is strong, whether they believe it or not."
